EXERCISE STEADFAST JUNO '10

The culmination of the 2010 training year saw NRDC-ITA participate in Ex STEADFAST JUNO 10, a demanding command post exercise involving a number of the NATO headquarters around Europe. Preparations for the exercise began in late November 2010 when the NRDC-ITA Support Brigade began establishing the NRDC-ITA Command Post within Ugo Mara Barracks, Sobiate Olona.

NRDC-ITA PLENARY CONFERENCE

On 18 November 2010 the Italian General Staff hosted the HQ NRDC-ITA Plenary Conference 2010 at Ugo Mara Barracks, Solbiate Olona (VA).  The annual conference was attended by representatives from the NRDC-ITA troop contributing nations and is the principal meeting in which changes to HQ NRDC-ITA structure and manning are recommended and authorized.

EXERCISE NOBLE LIGHT '10

In preparation for the forthcoming NATO High Readiness Force commitment HQ NRDC-ITA have recently completed Ex NOBLE LIGHT 2010. The exercise was conducted in Bellinzago Novarese over the period 4-15 October 2010 and followed on from the successful Ex EAGLE METOER conducted in Torre Veneri (Lecce).

INTERNATIONAL DAY 2010

On 11 September 2010 the Headquarters of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy (NRDC-ITA), hosted their annual International Day at Ugo Mara Barracks, Solbiate Olona.
The NRDC-ITA, commanded by Lieutenant General Gian Marco Chiarini, host the International Day annually as an opportunity for members of the local community, Italian and foreign soldiers and their families to meet, share each others cultures and have some fun.

THE FRENCH COMMUNITY OF NRDC ITA CELEBRATES THE BASTILLE SEIZURE

SOLBIATE OLONA (VA) 14 JULY 2010. The French community of NRDC ITA celebrated earlier today the Bastille seizure 14th july 1789, French national day.
The French senior national representative, Colonel Jaques Parenty, briefly explained the meaning of that event, a milestone of the French History and the base of the current republic.

THE US CONTINGENT CELEBRATED THEIR NATIONAL DAY

The US Contingent celebrated their national day with the Officer, Soldiers, and Guests of NRDC-ITA on July 2, 2010. In his remarks, LTC Gregory Rhoden, the USA Senior National Representative, highlighted the uniqueness of celebrating Independence Day among friends and colleagues from many of the nations that played pivotal roles in the formation and development of the United States of America.

THE 64th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ITALIAN REPUBLIC

The 64th anniversary of the foundation of the Italian Republic was celebrated at “Ugo Mara” Barracks in Solbiate Olona on the 2nd June 2010 with a celebratory event organised at the Officers’ Club. Various civilian and military dignitaries attended the event together with national and international representatives serving at the HQ NRDC-Italy.

ITA CHoD, GEN VINCENZO CAMPORINI, AND THE CHIEF OF THE IAGS, GEN VALOTTO, VISIT NRDC-ITA

The Italian Chief of Defence Staff, General Vincenzo Camporini, and the Chief of the Italian Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Giuseppe Valotto, visited the Headquarters of the NRDC-ITA in Solbiate Olona on Monday 3rd May 2010.

THE CELEBRATION OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN BEATRIX BIRTHDAY

Queens' Day, is the most cheerful of national holidays. It started as Princess day, and was first celebrated on the 31st of August 1885, the birthday of Queen Wilhelmina to emphasis national unity. The date later changed to 30th of April, the birthday of Queen Juliana. This year the Royal family visited two cities in the province of Zeeland. Also abroad, the Dutch gather with friends, relatives and countrymen, like the small Dutch community did in Solbiate Olona at the Ugo Mara Barracks.

PLAYING FOR LIFE. A CONCERT FOR HAITI

On Tuesday 12th January 2010 a huge earthquake registering massive 7.0-magnitude struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti. In response to the tragedy the Support Brigade at the HQ NRDC-ITA decided to hold a concert to raise money for those who have suffered. The concert which was christened “Suonando Per La Vita”, which translates as “Playing For Life” was held on Sunday 18th April at the Headquarters of the NRDC-ITA in Caserma Ugo Mara, in Solbiate Olona.

LT GEN CHARLES BOUCHARD, DEPUTY COMMANDER OF JFC NAPLES, VISITS NRDC-ITA

Lieutenant General Charles Bouchard, Deputy Commander of Joint Forces Command in Naples, visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy (NRDC-ITA), today in “Ugo Mara” Barracks in Solbiate Olona, leaded by General Gian Marco Chiarini.

EXERCISE EAGLE EYE 2010

EAGLE EYE 2010, a geo-strategic studies seminary, was held at the UGO MARA barracks in Solbiate Olona, Italy, the headquarters of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA), commanded by General Gian Marco CHIARINI.
Distinguished speakers delivered lectures dealing with topics related to NATO’s role in the modern world and various possible geo-political scenarios.
