Lieutenant General Farina met the multinational staff of the NATO Command in Milan.

Milan, December 14, 2020. Lieutenant General Salvatore Farina, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA). Lieutenant General Farina has been welcomed by Lieutenant General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, NRDC-ITA Commander. He attended several briefings on capabilities and tasks carried out by the Italian-led Corps and received an update on activities ongoing at the NATO Command in Milan to maintain the level of readiness and training in the assigned role.

Furthermore, an overview of HQ’s best practices and lessons learned from COVID-19 emergency was also provided to the Chief of Staff.
The establishment of the two DTD (Drive Through Defence) sites in Milan and Solbiate Olona was the most significant topic, due to the importance of the support granted to local health institutions facing the spread of the virus. After the briefings, Lieutenant General Farina virtually met NRDC-ITA personnel, appreciating the sinergy, professionalism and passion of staff and leaders in their daily work.

The visit of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army was the opportunity for NRDC-ITA to demonstrate its capabilities and reaffirm its role of Command ready, willing and able to support NATO in the three core tasks: collective defence, crisis management and cooperative security.
