VERONA (VR) 1^st AUGUST 2005. NRDC-IT Commander left Italy from the airport of Verona Villafranca in northern Italy the 1^st of August late in the night. He was leading the last echelon of the Italian led HQ to reach Afghanistan where he’ll take over the mission’s command from Gen. Erdagi, NRDC-TU Commander.
Gen. Del Vecchio boarded on a C-17 of the US Air Force transport airplanes that have been rented by NATO Joint force Command Brunssum to accomplish this task . He will land in Kabul after an eight hour flight and will be welcome by the current ISAF Commander and the part of NRDC-IT staff that is already in theatre. With his departure, NRDC-IT concludes its deployment to Afghanistan to fully operate the ISAF’s HQ in Kabul for a nine month mandate.
