HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Due to the inclement British weather in April, the monarch has an official  birthday, which the nation celebrates on the first, second or third Saturday of June each year.

SOLBIATE OLONA (VA) 5 JUNE 2008. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was born on the 21st April 1926. Due to the inclement British weather in April, the monarch has an official  birthday, which the nation celebrates on the first, second or third Saturday of June each year. The celebrations are usually marked by the nation with festivities and Trooping the Colour; a parade by regiments from the Household Division and King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery

This year the GBR contingent celebrated the 82nd Birthday of the Queen with a cocktail party held in the Officer’s Club on Thursday 5th June.  Guests including the Consular General and the Commander of the NRDC-ITA were greeted by a piper and entertained by a quartet from the Associazone Musicale Dino Ciani.  The Deputy Commander of the NRDC-ITA and Senior British Officer, Major General David Capewell OBE welcomed the guests and provided them with a short history of the British Royalty, explaining the importance of the day to the armed forces and nation as a whole.
The evening was a great success and served to further demonstrate the diversity in culture of this multi national headquarters.
