The second phase of the EAGLE LIGHT III 2019 exercise recently concluded at Ugo Mara Barracks. Running from 1st to 5th July and involving over 60 personnel from the Milan based multinational Command, the exercise aimed to further refine Command and Control procedures and test the minimum required level of communication connectivity.
This exercise was another step along the path towards transitioning NRDC-ITA from Land Component Command role within the NATO Response Force 2018 to war fighting Corps HQ. Eagle Light III (Part 2) further tested the innovative model of distributed command being developed by the NATO HQ.
Using a non-article 5 scenario, but still a high intensity combat operation, subject matter experts from across the HQ, 1st Signal Regiment and the Support Brigade have been fine-tuning tactics, techniques and procedures involved in delivering the HQ Rear Command Post, building on the work of Eagle Light III part one which occurred in March.
Having recently completed its turn as NATO Response Force HQ, NRDC-ITA is currently realigning itself as a war-fighting corps HQ. In conducting regular self-generated collective training, to guarantee a reliable, resilient and secure communication and information systems, NRDC-ITA continues to enhance its role of a ready and capable organization, proud to contribute to the overall Alliance policies for a safe and stable environment.
