NRDC-ITA commemorates NATO 70th Anniversary

Today we celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Washington Treaty, the founding document of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Today we celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Washington Treaty, the founding document of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
On April 4, 1949, the Alliance was created by people who had lived through two devastating world wars, determined that this should never happen again.
Today NATO delivers peace and security to nearly 1 billion people through its 29 members’ commitment to keep each other safe.
After seven decades we commemorate NATO’s achievements, an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing the Alliance today, and highlight its enduring value and mission going forward.
“NATO has united our continents, our nations and our people. Today we must do everything in our power to maintain that unity for future generations”, with these words addressed yesterday to the United States Congress, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg marked how “we are stronger and safer when we stand together.”
NRDC-Italy soldiers are proud to be part of this successful story; ready, willing and able to support the Alliance in the three “core tasks” of collective defence, crisis management and cooperative security.
Together we contribute to securing our future and our shared values.
