Solbiate Olona (VA), 1st December 2017 - This morning, during the flag-raising ceremony, Lieutenant General Roberto PERRETTI,

Commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy, delivered to the Brigadier General Andrea BERTOCCHI, DCOS Ops of the

NRDC-ITA, the Legion of Merit, a military award granted by the President of the United States of America.

This decoration, given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements, has been

issued to General BERTOCCHI for the commitment in its Resolute Support Mission tour of duty. During the mission Brigadier General

BERTOCCHI led the military-to-military engagements efforts between Afghanistan and Pakistan, thus furthering resolution of border

issues and integration. His effort laid the foundation for bilateral standard operating procedures which will facilitate future resolution of

border disputes. 

Moreover, his team’s unique position of working daily with Afghanistan and Pakistan military personnel provided information vital to

the continued force protection and ensured that senior leadership from Headquarters Resolute Support, the Office of the Defence

Representative Pakistan, United States Central Command, and numerous governmental agencies received timely, accurate, and

actionable data required to enhance the bilateral relationship vital to promoting peace and stability.
