Lieutenant General Lorenzo D'Addario hosted Lieutenant General Nicholas R.M. Borton, as they shared experiences and discussed possible areas of mutual interest, including training, to confirm that both commands are organizations ready to support the Alliance and international stability.
Lt. Gen. Borton and his Deputy Commander, Major General Gianluca Carai, examined areas of cooperation to further consolidate the already strong relations, established since the foundation of NRDC-ITA in 2001, in meetings with Lt. Gen. D’Addario, COM NRDC-ITA, Maj. Gen. Bennet, DCOM, and Maj. Gen. Polli, COS.
The Allied Rapid Reaction Corps was the first NATO Rapid Reaction Command established after the end of the Cold War.
It has participated in several operations including IFOR (Implementation Force) in Bosnia in 1995 and ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2011.
Currently, it is the largest UK land command and hosts a multinational staff from more than twenty Alliance members or partner states, including a strong contingent of Italian Armed Forces.
