Major General Nicola TERZANO was born in Gorizia in 1968.
He joined the Army in 1986 as a cadet at the Military Academy in Modena.
His first appointment was tank Platoon leader at the Lancieri di Firenze Squadron (Trieste) and later as Cadets’ Platoon Leader at the Military Academy. Afterwards he served in the 3rd Savoia Calvary Regiment as Recce Company Commander (1994-1998), S2 and S3 staff officer, Squadron Leader and in 2010 as 99th Commanding Officer. Subsequently, he was appointed Commanding Officer of the Cadets’ Regiment at the Military Academy (2011-2013). He also served as staff officer in the Deputy Chief of General Army Staff, in the Office of the Secretary General of Defence and National Armaments Director (2006-2008) and at the Italian Joint Operations Headquarters as Chief of the J5 Plans Division (from 2014 to 2016).
He was the Commanding General of the Garibaldi Brigade (Heavy Brigade) until June 27th, 2018. From August 2018 till July 2019 Brigadier General TERZANO was Italian Contingent Commander in Iraq and CJTF - OIR - Director of Training. He Commanded the ACQUI Division from May 2020 to September 2022. During his career, he was deployed in Bosnia (1998), Kosovo (1999), Lebanon (2007-2008) and Iraq.
With regards to his main professional training, he attended the Army Staff College (Civitavecchia – Italy), Academy of High Military Studies (Bucharest – Romania), the Joint Senior Staff Course (Rome) and the National War College (Washington D.C. – USA, 2013-14).
MGEN Nicola TERZANO has a Degree in Information Science and in Strategic Science (Turin University), and Military Science (Bucharest – Romania). He also has a Master’s Degree in
Strategic Science, International strategic-military studies and National Security Strategy (USA). He speaks English and Romanian.
MGEN Nicola TERZANO, among the most relevant has been awarded the Gold and Bronze Cross for Army Merit, and the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and Legion of Merit (officer).
He is married to Francesca and they have two children, Alessia and Matteo. His hobbies include reading (biographies and contemporary history), photography, and sporta ctivities as a whole.
He assumed the duties as Chief of Staff of NRDC-ITA in October 2022.
